These acts not only damage property, but also create safety concerns and place a significant financial burden on residents and business owners.
Investigators have identified recurring tags appearing throughout the city, including the names CYCLOPS, OMAN, and GHOST. These markings are linked to multiple incidents of illegal graffiti. Police and Crime Stoppers are asking anyone who can identify the individuals responsible for these tags, or any others, to come forward with information.

Crime Stoppers in partnership with the Ontario Provincial Police is seeking the public’s assistance in solving two break and enters that occurred over the weekend of April 12 and 14, 2025.
Unknown individuals gained access to Ministry of Transportation yards in Hilton Beach on April 12, 2025, at approximately 8:00 p.m. and Searchmont between April 12, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. and April 14, 2025, at 12:00 p.m., making off with approximately $10,000 worth of tools and equipment. It is believed the same suspects were involved in both incidents, as a U-Haul van was observed entering both properties during the time frame in question.

Crime Stoppers and the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police are
requesting your assistance with an on-going Sudden Death
investigation.
On January 6, 2025, at approximately 2:45 p.m., the East Algoma
OPP responded to a report of a deceased person located in the
vicinity of P Line Road in Jocelyn Township. As a result of the
investigation to date, one person was arrested and charged on
January 22, 2025.
The East Algoma OPP Crime Unit is continuing the investigation
under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch and
in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario
Forensic Pathology Service.
