On March 9, 2025, an unknown female entered Loblaws (Shopper's Drug Mart) located on Great Northern Road. The suspect was observed taking items valued at $34.00 and shortly after leaving the store. The suspect was confronted just outside the store by security where the suspect left the items and fled.

SUDDEN DEATH INVESTIGATION
March 13, 2025

Crime Stoppers and the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police are

requesting your assistance with an on-going Sudden Death

investigation.

 

On January 6, 2025, at approximately 2:45 p.m., the East Algoma

OPP responded to a report of a deceased person located in the

vicinity of P Line Road in Jocelyn Township. As a result of the

investigation to date, one person was arrested and charged on

January 22, 2025.

 

The East Algoma OPP Crime Unit is continuing the investigation

under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch and

in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario

Forensic Pathology Service.

On January 15, 2025, a female suspect was caught stealing makeup and pain medication in Sault Ste. Marie. While security recovered most of the stolen items, the suspect still made off with some merchandise.

On January 5, 2025, a male suspect stole cologne from Shoppers Drug Mart. After evading security through a back door, the suspect fled with a fragrance set valued at $128.99, leaving behind a portion of the stolen items. The suspect was seen driving a red Chevrolet and was last observed heading south on Great Northern Road.

On October 24th, 2024, around 5:00 AM, an unknown male used a hydraulic lift to steal a cage of propane tanks from the parking lot of the Circle K on Second Line East. The total value of the stolen tanks is $1,500. The empty cage was found nearby, but the 16 propane tanks were gone.

Over the labour day weekend, unknown individuals attended at the Hiawatha Highlands Conservation area. While there they cut down mature oak trees and burned them. The Regional Conservation Authority has been dealing with this issue along with illegal dumping of garbage all summer.

Sometime overnight on 1 August, 2024, an unknown male attended in the downtown area of Queen Street East. The suspect smashed 74 parking meters causing over $40,000 in damage and took an unknown amount change from the meters.

Crime Stoppers and the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police are requesting your assistance in identifying suspect(s) involved in the Theft of a Dump Trailer.
 
On January 4th, 2024, the east Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a theft of a dump trailer that was stolen overnight from a work site at 1 Stolar Crescent in the Town of Spanish.
 
The contractor's trailer is described as a Qual 83D dual axle black steel hydraulic "7x12" dump trailer that has an estimated value of $10,000. Large tire tread impressions consistent with large mud/tires were observed in the driveway.

On June 2nd, 2024 at around 11:00 AM an unknown female entered the Canadian Tire Gas Bar located on Great Northern Road. The suspect grabbed a bottle of pop and approached the counter demanding cigarettes. The suspect was asked to leave and refused throwing the bottle at the cashier and smashing the glass barrier and display case.
